Dear Members,

At our AGM we raised the need for volunteers across the club.

As Chairman, I am reaching out to ask for your support in shaping the future of our club. To continue our “Future Building” initiative we are launching new volunteer-driven teams, and we need passionate members to get involved.

There were lots of fantastic ideas, good advice and recommendations and as a committee we would love to be able to support all of these, but without commitment from volunteers, it is very hard to fulfil these ideas whilst running the day-to-day business of the club.

Therefore, we are currently looking for volunteers for the following groups:

Various Task and Finish Teams - for example, Carnival 14th June 2025 – We need volunteers for the Carnival on Saturday, 14th June. About 6 people are needed to help set up and take down, as well as teams to run the rugby ball shy. Set up at 9:00 am and takes about an hour, with the same amount of time required for take down at 4.30pm. Then as many children and parents as possible to join the procession which starts in Asheridge Road at 12noon. Meet time 11.30 am

Major Event Organisers for a Task and Finish Team - Women’s 35th Anniversary Event – Working to organise the celebration of 35 years of women’s rugby with an event planned for the 20th of September 2025. This will include a T1 tournament for girls, followed by a senior game in some format.

Finance Team – Help explore commercial opportunities to strengthen the club’s financial position. Whether you have experience in finance or simply keen insights, your expertise can help us secure future stability.

Social Media Team – Assist in managing our online presence, sharing club updates, engaging members, and spreading the word about our activities across platforms.

"Deer Friend Makers" Team –Be an ambassador for the "Deer Friend" fundraising programme. This team will actively promote the initiative, helping us grow our supporter base and continue a programme that has generated over £300,000 of revenue for our rugby club. Cliff Davies, our hard-working President, set this up and continues to drive this effort daily. We need more help and greater engagement across other parts of the club and community.

Recruitment Team –Work alongside our social media teams to drive recruitment through social media campaigns or event planning for club recruitment days.

Schools Coaches Team –Subject to DBS and qualifications, coaches are needed to assist with school coaching delivery.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to contribute while connecting with fellow members who share a passion for our club’s mission. Whether you have specialised skills or simply the enthusiasm to get involved, we’d love to have you on board!

If you’re interested in joining one of these committees, or have skills that would benefit the club.

please contact me on chair@cheshamrugbyclub.com or on 07748770961. You can also email or contact our Minis & Juniors Chair Sarah Hammond on mjchair.at.cheshamrfc@gmail.com

Thank you for your continued support – together, we can make a real difference!

Best regards,

Karl Cross

Chairman
