Chesham Rugby Club Appoints Nick Jones as New Head Coach of Senior Men’s Teams

Chesham Rugby Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Nick Jones as the new Head Coach of the Senior Men’s Teams. A long-standing and highly respected member of the club, Nick steps into the role following three seasons as assistant Men’s Coach and more than a decade leading the club’s women’s section.

Nick brings a wealth of experience and understands the club’s ethos and player pathways. His 13-year tenure coaching the women’s team shows his commitment and dedication to the roles he has previously held. His influence has extended beyond the club, with ongoing involvement in the Bucks County women’s setup, coaching alongside former Head Coach Rocky Clark. Notably, Nick will be coaching at Twickenham Stadium in the coming weeks, for the Gill Burns County Final, a testament to his coaching calibre and dedication to developing players at all levels.

In addition to leading the senior men’s sides, Nick will also be collaborating closely with the club’s Colts coaching team to ensure greater alignment across the age groups. This strategic collaboration aims to build consistency in coaching approaches, game understanding, and player development throughout the club.

“I am really excited for the season ahead, and to have a chance to build on the work Greg has done over the last year. It is great to be able to take on this challenge and I am looking forward to working with the players to plan for the season ahead.” – Nick Jones, Head Coach, Senior Men’s Teams.

"It is my pleasure to introduce Nick as our head coach. His journey with us really highlights a great pathway for community rugby, from being an eleven-year-old player in our mini and juniors, to becoming a key player during a successful period for our senior team, speaks to his value. Furthermore, his experience as a coach of our women's team and his assistance with our men's team over the years shows his commitment. Historically, we have often sought coaching solutions externally. However, when we have individuals like Nick, who have been part of our club for so long, and who understand us better than anyone, to overlook that homegrown talent seems crazy. We are confident that he will excel in this role and that we can support him as he continues to grow as a coach." – Karl Cross, Chair, Chesham Rugby Club.

Nick’s appointment marks a step towards the club’s ongoing ambition to foster inclusive, competitive, and sustainable rugby across all levels.
